UPDATE: Man arrested for attempted murder following Jan. 4 Belmont stabbing

    BELMONT — A Belmont man has been arrested and charged with attempted murder following the Jan. 4, stabbing of his then-roommate.

    Jetton Whiting, 25, was reportedly arguing with the 64-year-old, when he reportedly became upset and grabbed a knife, ultimately stabbing the victim multiple times before fleeing the residence. 

    The victim was discovered by a female friend who came to check on him at his residence shortly after noon Jan. 5, where she found him injured and alerted authorities.

    He was transported to Waldo County General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

    Authorities have been looking for Whiting since the assault and were able to apprehend him after being tipped off about a place where he may be hiding.

    Whiting is currently being held without bail.
