Monday Night Blues Series

Upcoming at the Time Out Pub

Fri, 05/17/2019 - 8:15am

ROCKLAND- The weekly Monday night blues series continues May 20 with Tas Cru & his Band of Tortured Souls, playing a 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. show in the upstairs music room of Time Out Pub, 275 Main St. Admission will be $15 at the door, which opens at 6 p.m.

Tas Cru was last on the Midcoast shortly after releasing a full-length album, 2018’s “Memphis Song.” Raucous, rowdy, gentle, sweet, eccentric, quirky and outright irreverent — Cru has the reputation of being one of the most distinctive bluesmen plying the trade today. Who else would release “Even Bugs Sing the Blues,” an album of original blues music for kids based on book characters from the works of Eric Carle; and “Doggone Blues,” a blues album for dog lovers?

A Blues Foundation Keeping the Blues Alive award recipient, Cru brings his blues education programs and workshops to festivals, schools, and hospitals everywhere he travels. The acclaimed songwriter, guitarist and vocalist’s approach to the country side of blues roots continues to garner him both fans and accolades.

The weekly Monday series continues May 27, with Murray Kinsey & Wicked Grin ($10). There also will be a show by Anthony Gomes Sunday, May 26, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. ($20). Shows are subject to change.
