AUGUSTA — On Thursday, June 13, Sen. Erin Herbig, D-Belfast, honored Pat Clark, of Unity, for her 37 years of teaching at Unity College. Clark traveled to Augusta to receive a legislative sentiment.

A professor of oral communication, Clark retired last month. In Sen. Herbig’s remarks on the Senate floor, she thanked Clark on behalf of the Maine Legislature.

“Over nearly four decades, Pat has served her community, shaped Unity College and left a lasting impression on thousands of students,” said Senator Herbig, in a news release. “Thank you for your meaningful and enduring impact on your students, Waldo County and the State of Maine.”

Melik Khoury, president of Unity College, said Clark is collegial, respectful, competent and funny.

“There was nothing that Pat wasn’t willing to do to support the mission of the college, the students and the alums,” said Khoury, in the release. “She helped us as we transformed and became much more of a presence in Maine. I see her continuing to be involved. She really is a joy to be around.”

A legislative sentiment is a significant expression of the Maine Legislature to honor notable achievements. If you know of someone who should be recognized, contact Senator Herbig at (207) 287-1515 or Erin.Herbig@legislature.maine.gov.
