SACO — This summer’s edition of the Maine Shrine Lobster Bowl will be the 30th edition and four locals will participate in the event.

This high school all-star football game is a Kora Shrine sponsored event where 100% of the net proceeds from the game are for the benefit of the 22 Shrine Hospitals for Children across the US, Canada, and Mexico, according to a press release.

The Maine Shrine Lobster Bowl Game has been created to raise money and to help make the public aware of the expert orthopedic and burn care facilities available to children who desperately need this specialized care, regardless of the patients’ ability to pay, the release states.

Three area football players made the east squad roster: defensive end Donald Resh III of Belfast, linebacker Eli Miller of Medomak Valley and slot receiver Ben Ripley of Oceanside.

The area’s only cheerleader to be named to a squad is Belfast’s Jed Salvatore, who will cheer for the west squad.

The game will be held July 20 at Thornton Academy in Saco.
