Thomaston Grammar students awarded for honesty
Students at Thomaston Grammar School have been focusing on honesty during the month of February. Several students at TGS were recognized for their honesty at a school-wide assembly on March 1. Students receiving the Honesty Award were: Colton Webber, Emelia Miller, Azrael Dare, Milo Fisher, Lincoln Moorman, Emmett DeYoung, Kaiya Clements, Logan McRae, Gemma Rubino, Carter Spicer, Seth Beckett, Eva Davidson, Justin
Chen, Wyatt Earley, Bryson Chipman, Oliver Hedstrom, and London York.
Throughout the month, students were awarded daily tickets for being honest. These tickets were put into a raffle and six lucky winners were drawn at the assembly. Winners received their choice of a prize, including gift cards donated by local businesses.
All of the students receiving the Honesty Award are known to be honest. They are honest, even when it may be difficult to do so. Students who are honest can be trusted to do what is asked of them, to contribute to the group or team, to be loyal to their friends, classmates, and family members, and to tell the truth always. People who are honest share their opinions, but do so in a responsible and respectful way. They often help those around them to understand that honesty is the best policy. They are good examples when interacting with their peers. They are known to be trustworthy in all situations.
Skylar Haynes also received the Principal’s Award. Skylar is a fantastic member of the Thomaston Grammar School community, according to TGS. It is apparent to her peers and the staff members that she works with that she cares about her fellow TGS community members. She always puts her best foot forward to be a kind and helpful member of her classroom and the greater Thomaston Grammar School community.
In honor of the Oceanside Mariners going to states, the assembly concluded with a basketball competition. Miss Kennadi, who is a 2013 record holder for scoring 1,000 points in a season, and Miss Anthony were team captains. Each team had to dribble the basketball down the court, put on a pinny, dribble the ball back down the court, and hand it off to the next team member. Miss Anthony’s team won then played against TGS staff.
TGS students cheered for their favorite team and in the end, staff won.
Next month, students at TGS will be focusing on responsibility.
