ROCKLAND — A 17-year-old driver, with a learner’s permit, was trapped inside his vehicle after it flipped over on Old County Road around noon Oct. 11, according to a news release from Rockland Police Sgt. Ken Smith.  

The name of the male driver, who is from Camden, is not being released by PenBay Pilot because he is a juvenile.  

The driver was operating a 1985 Jeep Cherokee while traveling north on Old County Road. Police said he was traveling too fast for the corner. He lost control of the Jeep, causing it to spin around, skid off the road, flip over, and finally come to rest on the roof of the vehicle.  

The driver, who was trapped inside the vehicle, had to be extricated by Rockland Fire Department. Two passengers in the vehicle were able to get out and were not injured, according to police.   

The male driver was transported to Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport for precautionary measures.  

Thomaston Ambulance also responded to assist at the scene.   

The jeep was totaled in the crash. No charges were brought against the driver, according to police. 

Old County Road was shut down for about one hour.
