Stephen P. Hixon, obituary

CAMDEN — Stephen P. Hixon, 50, died unexpectedly on Thursday, Dec. 6th 2018.  Born in Springfield, Ohio, he graduated from Springfield North High School, then attended Wright State University in Fairborn, OH.

Steve enjoyed fishing, baseball, golf and was notorious for causing trouble with his brothers.

In 1990, he moved to Maine where he started a career in auto-sales with Yankee Ford in Portland mastering his craft within months. He then served in upper management for the better part of 27 years. Through his expertise, Steve was instrumental in building the Yankee group into the premier Ford dealer group in the state. 

Over his 28 year career in auto sales, Steve received many accolades for his sales abilities, including becoming a Ford Master Certified Sales Manager and an AFIP Certified Finance Manager. His career in Maine included the areas of South Portland, Brunswick and most recently, he managed Rockland Ford, where he will be greatly missed and will always be considered an irreplaceable team member.

In 2002, Steve met his future wife Jen and her son, Nate. They were married soon after and in 2004, they welcomed a beautiful daughter, Molly.

Steve embraced his role in the Feener Family as “Corn hole Champion” and “Wing Master”. He enjoyed annual family camping trips across the state where he was able to boast his role as Karaoke King.

A passionate golfer, he loved hosting poker nights for his friends. Well known at all bar sports, Steve will be remembered for his great smile, sense of humor, sarcastic wit and baby blue eyes.

Steve, “The Shredder” Hixon, was predeceased by his brothers, Danny Hixon and Michael Hixon; his father Patrick “The King” Hixon; and step-father Larry “Hoser” Gunter.

Surviving is his “pumpkin”, Molly; his wife, Jen “Chill” Hixon; his step-son Nate Raye, all of Camden, ME; his mother, Susan Schutte Gunter of Springfield, OH; his step-mother Sharon Hixon; half-brother, Joe Hixon, also of Springfield, OH; mother-in-law, Susan Howard and her husband Steve; and father-in-law, Joseph Feener, and his wife, Cathy.

There will be an informal gathering including a cash bar and hors d’oeuvres from 1 - 4 PM, Thursday, December 20, 2018 at 16 Bay View Street in Camden. Friends are invited to join the family in remembering Steve.  Parking is limited but available at the Public Landing, Bay View Landing or on the street.
