State Police seek suspect following China bank robbery

    CHINA — Maine State Police responded to a bank robbery at the Bar Harbor Bank and Trust on Route 3 in the town of China at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 5, according to a news release from the Maine State Police. The release states that no weapons were displayed and no one was injured.

    Troopers from Troop C and D along with Game Wardens and Forest Rangers responded to the incident.

    According to police, a white male suspect standing approximately 5'3" with a slim build exited the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash. The release states that there were no customers in the bank at the time of the robbery, however bank employees were present. 

    Troopers believed the suspect likely left the scene in a nearby vehicle, according to the release.

    The news release states that troopers are currently following up on several leads. Anyone who recognizes the person pictured or has information about the robbery is asked to call State Police in Augusta at (207) 624-7076.
