Rockport Police beat: Operating after suspension, leaving the scene of an accident

    ROCKPORT — Rockport police reported the following activity Aug. 18-29. An arrest or summons does not imply guilt. A person charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

    Aug. 12 (late entry)

    Arlen B. Riggs, 32, of Rockport, was charged by Officer Jacob Powers with failure to maintain control of motor vehicle, seatbelt violation, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to give notice of an accident by quickest means.

    Aug. 18

    Michelle M. Leonard, 51, of Spruce Head, was charged by Officer Chris Taylor for operating after suspension.

    Aug. 24

    Nathaniel S. Bell, 42, of Thomaston, was issued a summons by Taylor for expired registration.

    Richard Nickles, 53, of Waldoboro, was issued a summons by Taylor for insurance violations.

    Aug. 25

    Seren Merrifield, 20, of Owls Head, was charged by Powers with operating after suspension.

    Aug. 27

    Emerson S. Sykes, 28, of Lincolnville, was issued a summons by Powers for speeding 50 mph in a 35 mph zone.

    Aug. 29

    John P. Lurvey, 24, of Hermon, was issued a summons by Powers for speeding 55 mph in a 45 mph zone.
