Rockland Police Officer James Pease has been promoted to the rank of Deputy Chief for the Rockland Police Department.  Deputy Chief Pease was hired as a patrol officer for the city in November 1994.  Pease graduated the Criminal Justice Academy Basic Police School in November 1995.  In 1997, Pease was loaned from Rockland PD to the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency, where he was assigned as a special agent investigating narcotics cases.

In 2001, Pease was promoted to detective sergeant and returned to the police department to lead the Criminal Investigations Division (CID).

Pease lead the department’s CID until 2007, when he was asked to return to the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency as a Task Force Commander for the newly formed Mid-Coast Task Force.

Pease has remained in that position until his recent promotion to Deputy Chief of Police.

“Throughout his career, Jim has built and maintained a reputation as being a highly driven and talented investigator,” said Police Chief Chris Young, Nov. 20. “His work ethic is second to none and his loyalty to the citizens of Rockland and the Rockland Police Department can be observed every day in the way he approaches his work.  I am very fortunate that Jim has agreed to accept the position of Deputy Chief of Police and is coming back to help me lead this outstanding group of officers into the future.  The city and the police department will be well served by his knowledge and commitment to success.”
