ROCKLAND — Rockland police have concluded their investigation regarding a pedestrian and truck collision on Route 1, according to a news release issued Feb. 15.

Jennifer Messier, 42, of Hope was jogging at approximately 10:11 a.m. Feb. 9 on Camden Street (Route 1) traveling north in Rockland. She wanted to cross Camden Street near the Shore Village apartment complex, where there is not a cross walk, according to a Rockland Police report.

Messier misjudged the traffic pattern and ran into the rear of a 53-foot steel flatbed trailer being towed by a 2015 Peterbilt tractor. The tractor and trailer are owned by Journey’s End Marina Transportation in Rockland.

The tractor was operated by Jason Spear, 46, of Rockport.

Messier was transported from the scene by Rockland EMS to Penobscot Bay Medical Center in Rockport and then flown by LifeFlight to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.

Messier received a broken pelvis, broken leg and broken elbow as well as other injuries. She is in stable condition.

No charges are being brought against Spear since he did not know that Messier ran into his trailer, according to police.

The incident was investigated by Sgt. Ken Smith.
