Rockland grad awarded dental scholarship

ROCKLAND — Natasha Seavey, a graduate of Rockland District High School who attends the University of New England College of Dental Medicine, was one of 11 students selected to receive the 2018 Alva S. Appleby Scholarship from the Maine Dental Association Charitable Foundation.

Each of the students was awarded $5,000.

To be considered for the annual Appleby Scholarship, a student must be a resident of the state of Maine, have completed their first year of dental school, and be currently enrolled in a dental school accredited by the American Dental Association.

Seavey is a member of the class of 2021 at the University of New England College of Dental Medicine who received her bachelor’s degree from the University of New England. She is a member of ASDA (American Student Dental Association) and the Interprofessional Education Collaborative at UNE.

She has volunteered for the Walk For Autism and the Special Olympics, and is the daughter of Eleanor and Kevin Reed of Rockland.
