Registration open for Medomak Valley Little League’s Warren, Friendship players

WALDOBORO — Little League baseball and softball registration is now open for Medomak Valley Little League.

Registrations for the 2018 Little League baseball, softball and t-ball seasons for Waldoboro and Friendship players of Medomak Valley Little League will be accepted Mondays through Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Waldoboro Recreation Department until Sunday, March 25.

Additionally, there will be registration nights at the Friendship Village School Wednesday, March 14 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and at the Waldoboro Town Office Tuesday, March 20 from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. 

Little League requires a parent or legal guardian present a state certified copy of the child’s birth certificate three proofs of residence (returning players are exempted unless address has changed). Registration is required even if the child played previously. Registration fee is $30. Additional family members receive a $5 discount. Scholarships are available upon request for those in need.

Eligibility birth dates are as follows: t-ball and baseball born between May 1, 2005 and Aug. 31, 2014 and t-ball and softball born between Jan. 1, 2005 and Dec. 31, 2013.

Divisions of play include t-ball (ages 4-6 coed), minor league softball and baseball (ages 6*-11 coach and player pitch), major league softball and baseball (ages 9-12). *League age six year-olds wishing to play in the minor league division must have played at least one year of t-ball.

To be selected to a Major League Team, players (ages 9-12) must attend a tryout session. Players that played on the Wildcats, Tigers, Fillies or Diamondbacks in 2017 need to register, but not tryout. Those who played for the Bears or Panthers must attend tryout.

Tryouts will be held in the Medomak Valley gym on Wednesday, March 21 (softball from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.; baseball from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.) and Sunday, March 25 (softball from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.; baseball from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.).
