Registration available for RSU 13 after-school art programs

    ROCKLAND – Arts in Action, Arts@Work, and TGS Art Club programs are now taking registrations for the 2018-19 school year.

    Youth artists will work with Alexis Iammarino, Cynthia McGuirl, and other community artists on a variety of collaborations and projects across the Rockland/Thomaston area including collaborations with the Center for Maine Contemporary Art and the Flanagan Community Center.

    Art Club at Thomaston Grammar School, serving fourth and fifth-grade students, offers a variety of experimental projects and art exploration lead by Cynthia McGuirl.

    Arts in Action, serving sixth through eighth-grade students district-wide, offers the development and implementation of community murals. Arts in Action is hosted by the Flanagan Community Center/YMCA.

    Arts@ Work offers high school mentorships in Studio Arts for students in grades nine through 12 district-wide, and provides opportunities to develop independent artwork. Arts@Work is hosted by ArtLab at the Center for Maine Contemporary Art.

    Additionally, there is a high-school Illustration and Graphic Novel Intensive program this led by Alexis Iammarino.

    Programs are offered by RSU 13 Adult and Community Education to create opportunities for youth artists to showcase and share their talents in actionable ways by partnering fine arts education with community arts and service learning projects.
