BELFAST — The Peace and Justice Group of Waldo County is holding its annual Solstice Potluck and film, Wednesday, Dec. 19 , 5:30 p.m., in the Abbott Room at the Belfast Free Library.

The film Living Soil : A Documentary for All of Us will be shown at around 6 p.m., following the potluck.

This 60-minute documentary features innovative farmers and soil health experts from throughout the U.S.

“Our soils support 95 percent of all our food production; they filter water, and they are one of our most cost effective reservoirs for sequestering carbon,” according to a news release. “Our soils are "vibrantly alive," yet in the last 150 years, we have lost half of the basic building blocks that make our soil productive. ‘It's time we changed everything we thought we know about soil. Let's make this the century of living soil,” said filmakers.”
