Owls Head Garden Club Scholarship

OWLS HEAD — Residents of RSU 13 are invited to apply for a $1,000 college scholarship to be awarded by the Owls Head Garden Club at the close of this academic year. 

The scholarship will be given to a qualified student majoring in landscaping, environmental studies, horticulture, biology, architecture or related fields. 

The Owls Head Garden Club scholarship program was established to assist eligible residents of RSU 13 district of Maine to obtain education beyond the high school level and those students attending University of Maine Augusta at Rockland Center.

Applicants for the scholarship must be residents of the RSU 13, which includes Cushing, Owls Head, Rockland, Thomaston, and South Thomaston.

They must be pursuing or planning to pursue an environmental related course of study at the post-secondary level at a public or private college, university, vocational or professional school in any of the following areas: horticulture, floriculture, landscape design, conservation, wildlife science, forestry, botany, plant or marine biology, agronomy, plant pathology, environmental control, city planning, landscape architecture, environmental engineering, land management, or any allied subjects. 

The education may be full or part time.

Application forms and guidelines may be obtained at the Owls Head Town Office, the guidance office at Oceanside High School, or the University of Maine Augusta at Rockland Center. 

The application and accompanying materials must be completed and received by May 1, to be considered.
