community workshops in Searsport and Belfast

Order forms available for Waldo County Window Dresser inserts

Fri, 09/07/2018 - 11:00am

The 2019 Farmer’s Almanac announced August 27 that we can expect “arctic air, blustery, bitter winds, sharp drops in temperature and widespread snow showers and squalls” this winter.

What to do?  For seven years, Window Dressers volunteers have made polyolefin-wrapped interior storm windows to keep Waldo County residents warmer, help them save on fuel costs, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and build community by working together.

Once again, community workshops will be held in Searsport (October 16 – 26) and Belfast (November 8 – 21), but cutoff dates for ordering new inserts are fast approaching, according to a news release. Prices for inserts in 2019 are expected to rise due to increased materials costs, so now is the time to act.

Generous assistance is available for anyone who would find paying Window Dressers’ full costs a challenge.

Orders for inserts for the Searsport workshop must be in by September 17 and orders for the Belfast workshop must be in by October 10.

Go to www.windowdressers.org, click on “Order and participate” in the upper right-hand corner, and fill out the form.  You will be assigned to a workshop based on your town of residence in Waldo County.

Questions? Don’t use the Internet?  Just call Dianne Smith (Searsport) at 322-4443 or Corliss Davis (Belfast) at 930-3562.

If a cat or child has damaged an insert you bought in the past, it can be rewrapped at this year’s workshop.  Call either Dianne or Corliss for details.
