Nomination papers available for Rockland municipal, school board, and port district

    ROCKLAND – On November 6, Rockland candidates will vie for one City Council seat, three RSU 13 Board of Directors seats, and three seats on the Port District Board of Trustees. One Election Warden and one Ward Clerk vacancy are also listed.

    Below is a list of vacancies that will be on the ballot for the November 6, 2018 Annual Municipal Election, the number of signatures required on the nomination papers for each office, and the due date for the papers:

    Nov. 6, 2018 Municipal Election

     

    City Council:  1 seat (Ackor) 3-year term.                                                             Signatures: 100-150

     

    RSU 13 Board of Directors:  2 seats (Peaco, Jeffers) 3-year terms.                      Signatures:  100-150

     

    RSU 13 Board of Directors:  1 seat (Roberts) 1-year term.                                   Signatures:  100-150

     

    Port District Board of Trustees:  2 seats (McNichol, Edwards) 5-year terms.          Signatures:  15-30

     

    Port District Board of Trustees:  1 seat (Vacant), 1-year term                                Signatures:  15-30

     

    Election Warden:  1 seat (Avirett) 1-year term                                                       Signatures:  15-30

     

    Ward Clerk:  1 seat (Vacant) 1-year term                                                               Signatures:  15-30

     

    Candidates may take out as many nomination papers as they wish.  The number of required signatures are as follows:

    City Council and RSU 13 Board candidates must have no less than 100 nor more than 150 signatures of registered Rockland voters to qualify for placement on the ballot. It is suggested that candidates collect at least 120-125 signature to make sure they have a sufficient number to qualify for placement on the ballot. 

    For Port District, Election Warden, and Ward Clerk, no less than 15 nor more than 30 signatures are required.

    Due Date:  Nomination Papers may be taken out beginning August 8, and must be filed at the City Clerk’s Office no later than 4:30 p.m. on September 24.
