Tue, 09/19/2023 - 1:00pm

Cody Wilson, of Camden, was one of eight recent graduates from the Downeast School of Massage. The school held commencement exercises for the new massage therapists as the 71st graduation class July 15, at the school in Waldoboro.

As an LMT and Fitness Trainer, Wilson runs On Point Massage at a private studio five minutes from downtown Camden. He enjoys helping people with chronic stress, orthopedic challenges, sports injuries, acute and chronic illness. Wilson uses various massage techniques for addressing client’s needs and promote self-awareness, including therapeutic massage, myofascial release, trigger point therapy, acupressure, and sports massage. He also received training in lymphatic drainage and craniosacral therapy.

Growing up, Wilson developed strong interests in sports and the outdoors. Since then, he has continued to build his interest and education in fitness and wellness. In 2017, he successfully completed an internship at the gym Relentless Strength in Bangor.

There, Wilson learned the many facets involved with Fitness Programming, Training, and Coaching for both one-on-one and group settings. He learned to program for various types of client goals, including those for strength gains, weight-loss, increasing metabolic fitness, and bodybuilding. He also learned how to provide nutritional guidance integrated with client’s exercise regiments.

In 2017, Wilson earned his B.S. in kinesiology, with a concentration in exercise science from the University of Maine.

Up through massage school, he has been working as a fitness instructor at various settings including Infinite Fitness. Cody is now at a private fitness and massage studio in Camden. In adding more ways to promote wellness, Cody enrolled in the fall class at DSM in pursuit of a license in massage therapy in September of 2022. With the addition of massage training in his “toolbox”, he envisions leading clientele to a healthier quality of life that helps them live longer, have minimal discomfort, have more strength and endurance, and mobility.

Graduating were: Brigette Bouchard, Winslow; Melissa Corwin, Bath; David Dehlinger, Tenants Harbor; Pascale Mayhorn, Rockport; Ashley Ranco, Friendship; Melissa Tenney, China Village; Cody Wilson, Camden; and Ian Wilson, Winslow. All the graduating students are from Maine.

On top of being educated in Exercise Science and Massage, Cody also specializes in the ancient art of Thai Fire Cupping, a safe and appropriate option for many.  To see Cody’s menu or book an appointment, you may visit Cody’s website https://onpointmassage.us
