ROCKLAND — The Strand Theatre’s monthly Family Film Matinee series will present The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992) on Sunday, Nov. 26, at 1 p.m. The matinee series presents favorite family films from yesterday and today, screened on the last Sunday of every month.

The Muppets perform the classic Dickens holiday tale, with Kermit the Frog playing Bob Cratchit, the put-upon clerk of stingy Ebenezer Scrooge (Michael Caine). Other Muppets – Miss Piggy, Gonzo, Fozzie Bear and Sam the Eagle – weave in and out of the story, while Scrooge receives visits from spirits of three Christmases – past, present and future. They show him the error of his self-serving ways, but the miserable old man seems to be past any hope of redemption and happiness. Will he see the light? The Muppet Christmas Carol is directed by Jim Henson.

The Muppet Christmas Carol is rated G, and has a running time of 1 hour 25 minutes.

Tickets are $5/General Admission and will be available at the lobby box office starting 30 minutes prior to show time.

The Strand Family Series is made possible thanks to its supporting sponsor, the Rockland Harbor Hotel.

The Strand Theatre is located at 345 Main Street, Rockland.
