ROCKPORT — The Midcoast Recreation Center hosted the 13th annual “Serving To End World Hunger” tennis benefit on Saturday, Nov. 3 and raised over $16,000 to be donated to both local and global hunger relief.

Recipients of the money raised will include St. George Community Development Corporation, Area Interfaith Outreach, Good Shepard Food Bank and Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) World Hunger.

The main event saw 32 local tennis players face off in a round robin format throughout the afternoon. Other events throughout the day included pickleball, a junior tennis tournament and the Meyer Men Challenge.

“There was such a great community spirit on the courts yesterday,” said Seth Meyer, MRC tennis director. “We are fortunate to have such great people support this event each year.”
