Mount Desert Island baseball bests Belfast

BELFAST — The Belfast varsity baseball team hosted Mount Desert Island in a Wednesday, May 15 game. 

Mount Desert Island slipped past the host Lions 4-2. 

With the loss, Belfast’s record dropped to 6-4. 

Belfast tallied a run in each of the first two innings, while tallying eight hits and committing an error. 

Mount Desert Island plated a run in each in the first and fourth innings and two in the sixth innings. The guests recorded eight hits and committed four errors. 

Working the mound for Belfast was Jason Bartlett (seven innings, five strikeouts). 

Pitching for Mount Desert Island were Quentin Peliggi (five innings, four strikeouts) and Sam Mitchell (two innings, two strikeouts). 

Among Belfast’s offensive contributors was Dylan Abbott, who recorded three hits. 

Among Mount Desert Island’s offensive contributors were Sam Keblinsky (two hits), Drew Shea (two hits, two RBIs), Peliggi (RBI) and Porter Isaacs (RBI). 

Up next for Belfast will be a home contest against Medomak Valley on Friday, May 17 at 4 p.m.
