Messalonskee girls basketball defeats Medomak Valley

OAKLAND — The Medomak Valley varsity girls basketball team hit the road Thursday, Jan. 31 for a showdown with Messalonskee in Oakland. 

In the end, Messalonskee secured a 48-38 victory over the visiting Panthers. 

With the loss, the Panthers record now sits at 9-7 on the season. 

Messalonskee held quarterly advantages of 12-11, 20-16 and 36-20. 

Scoring for Messalonskee were Gabrielle Wener (23 points), Sarah Lowell (one), Katie Seekins (four), Brianne Benecke (two), Emily Parent (eight), Mackenzie Mayo (two) and Grace Wener (two). 

Scoring for Medomak Valley were Autumn Ripley (one point), Zaniah Puchalski (two), Aubrey Schaeffer (two), Abby Lash (11), Maddy White (two), Mackenzie Bickmore (two), Kayla Donlin (six) and Lydia Simmons (12). 

Up next for Medomak Valley is a road contest against Mount Ararat on Tuesday, Feb. 5 at 7 p.m. The team’s regular season finale will be at home Thursday, Feb. 7 against Oceanside at 7 p.m.
