Megunticook Rowing places at three events

PORTLAND — Megunticook Rowing had a great 2018 fall season consisting of a community event in Portland, two regattas, according to a news release. Events also included an invitation for one boat to participate in the Head of the Charles with the junior team of 40.

“The board and staff would like to thank our families and supporters for a great season,” the release said.

Six junior boats and one master from Megunticook Rowing participated in The Textile Regatta, held September 30, on the Merrimack River in Lowell, Massachusetts.

Results as follows: Women’s Masters 1x - 5th place, 21:14:462 (Amy),  Women’s Junior Novice 2x – 2nd place, 22:29:284 (Alison & Leah B), Men’s Junior Novice 4+ - 3rd place, 18:49:372  (Willy, Oliver, Devin, Noah, Allister), Women’s Junior Novice 4+ - 6th place, 20:25:376  (Haley, Caroline, Iselin, Faith, Kate),

Men’s Junior Varsity 8 – 13th place, 15:10:293  (Addison, Ian, Jason, Luke, Sam, Tanner, Tristan, Tommy, Charlotte), Women’s Junior Varsity 8 A - 13th place 16:37:327  (Kerry, Aniela, Leah D., Ariel, Elsa, Sage, Caroline L, Katie, Sophie), Women’s Junior Varsity 8 B -26th place 17:55:170  (Tessa M, Iris, Hope, Tessa M, Courtney, Alley, Lyra, Sydney, Kat).

Megunticook Rowings second regatta was the NH Championships, Pembroke NH held on October 14 on the Merrimack River. 439 boats competed from 64 different clubs.

“Congratulations go out to all our rowers and our medal winners,” said the release.

The Men’s Novice 4+ received a gold medal in a field of 14 boats with a time of 15:46.8 and the Women’s Novice 4+ received a bronze medal in a field of10 boats with a time of 19:16.7.

Women's Novice 4+ - 3rd place, 19:16.7 (Hayley-c, Leah B, Alison, Iselin, Kaitlyn), Women’s 8+ B - 6th place, 16:53.1 (Kat-C, Tessa M, Lyra, Hazel, Sage, Sydney, Kaitlyn, Hope, Alley), Women’s 8+ A - 10th place, 16:02.4 (Sophie-C, Kerry, Elsa, Leah, Aniela, Eleanor (sub from Camden Hills) , Katie, Tess M, Iris).

Each year we the team is provided the opportunity to send one boat to the Head of the Charles in Boston, which was held on Oct 20 - 12. This is the largest two-day regatta in the world and hosts 2305 boats from 805 clubs.
