Medomak sixth grade travel basketball team wins own tournament

WALDOBORO — The Medomak sixth grade girls travel basketball team won its own tournament that took place Saturday, March 30 and Sunday, March 31 in Waldoboro. 

The Medomak roster includes Lilly Christ, Skylar Hills, Audrey Jackson, Roisin Hopkins, Erica Waite, Emily Richards, Paige Jarvis, Kytana Williamson and Sadie Knight. The team is coached by Andrea and Richard Williamson.

Two awards were handed out at the conclusion of the tournament with one being for the tournament’s most valuable player and one for best defender of the tournament. Kaelynn Beeton (Belfast) received the best defender award, while Kytana Williamson received the tournament’s most valuable player award. 

During the travel tournament season, the Medomak team won three tournaments, finished as tournament runner-ups twice and finished with a 19-3 record. 

Game One: Medomak 28, Mount Desert Island 13

The opening quarter ended in a 6-6 tie before Medomak took quarterly advantages of 16-6 and 24-11. 

Scoring for Medomak were Jackson (eight points), Knight (two), Williamson (four), Hills (two), Waite (two) and Christ (10). 

Scoring for Mount Desert Island were Mia Shaw (two points), Lexi Tozier (two), Lily Alley (seven) and Lexi Jones (two). 

Game Two: Medomak 38, Mount View 4

Medomak held quarterly advantages of 12-1, 22-1 and 30-4. 

Scoring for Medomak were Jackson (18 points), Knight (four), Williamson (12) and Hills (four). 

Scoring for Mount View were Kayleigh Dunton (four points). 

Game Three: Medomak 20, Belfast 16 

Medomak held quarterly advantages of 6-3, 16-6 and 17-10. 

Scoring for Medomak were Jackson (six points), Williamson (13) and Christ (one). 

Scoring for Belfast were Lilly Hughes (three points), Julie Darres (three), Danica Gray (seven), Audri Goodwin (one), Kaelynn Beeton (one) and Breanna Shorey (one).

Game Four: Medomak 29, Belfast 21 (Championship) 

Medomak held quarterly advantages of 8-5, 18-9 and 28-15. 

Scoring for Medomak were Hopkins (two points), Jackson (six), Knight (two), Williamson (15), Hills (two) and Waite (two). 

Scoring for Belfast were Alanna Nichols (four points), Julie Darres (two), Maddie Deans (three), Danica Gray (three), Audri Goodwin (one), Kaelynn Beeton (two) and Breanna Shorey (five).
