BELFAST — A Winterport man who faced nine counts following a deadly 2016 accident that left two young people dead was sentenced to spend three years six months in prison after pleading no contest to charges following the incident in Waldo County Unified Court Dec. 3.

Adam Littlefield, 23, faced nine counts following the crash, which occurred Sept. 3, 2016, in Prospect, and claimed the lives of John Moriarty and Brad Pomeroy. Though the crash occurred in Sept. 2016, Littlefield was not charged until March 2017.

The nine charges included two counts of manslaughter, two counts of aggravated criminal operating under the influence, aggravated operating after habitual offender revocation, operating after habitual offender revocation, and three counts of violating conditions of release.

Both charges of manslaughter and both charges of aggravated operating under the influence were dismissed due to lack of evidence. Littlefield pleaded no contest to four other counts.

Littlefield was sentenced to three years six months in prison and a $1,000 fine for operating after habitual offender revocation; he received a sentence of six months in jail for each of his three counts of violating conditions of release. The charge of aggravated operating after habitual offender revocation was also dismissed.

In a narrative of the accident, which involved a truck rolling over, an attorney for Littlefield stated that all three of the occupants were ejected from the vehicle, leaving Moriarty and Pomeroy deceased at the scene and lone survivor Littlefield “in critical condition with severe injuries,” which included severe injuries to his head.
