Earlier today, July 13, the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit arrested Philip Clark, 55, and charged him with murder for a homicide that occurred at 557 Kennebec Road in Hampden, according to a news release from the Maine Dept. of Public Safety. Philip has been transported to the Penobscot County Jail. The deceased is a woman and will be transported to the Medical Examiner’s office in Augusta for an autopsy that we anticipate will be completed tomorrow.

Detectives will work with the Medical Examiner’s office to identify the victim and determine a cause of death.  Both Clark and the victim are residents of the property at 557 Kennebec Road which has been secured and is being processed by Evidence Response Technicians at this time.  It is possible that work will continue into the day tomorrow. Members of the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit responded to the residence last night at the request of the Hampden Police Department concerning a welfare check.  An update will be provided after the autopsy.
