Lincoln County Sheriff's Office: Accidents on snowy roads

Sheriff Todd Brackett reports the following:

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office responded to 251 calls for service between Nov. 14 and Nov. 20. Year to date, LCSO has responded to 14,812 calls for service

Summonses

Austin T. Eugley, 20, of Bowdoin was issued a summons Nov. 15 for Attaching False Plates, on Bristol Road, Bristol, by Deputy Kevin Dennison.

Randy S. Thompson, 32, of Southport Island was issued a summons Nov. 16 for Operating with Suspended Registration, on Wiscasset Road, Boothbay, by Sgt. Mark Bridgham.

Karter S. Billingslea, 20, of Wilton was issued a summons Nov. 16 for Operating after Suspension, on Waldoboro Road, Bremen, by Deputy Alonzo Connor.

Daniel R. Guaman, 25, of Framingham, Massachusetts was issued a summons Nov. 17 for Operating Vehicle without a License, on US Route 1, Nobleboro, by Deputy Alonzo Connor.

Accidents

On Nov. 15, an accident occurred on Fir Hollow Road in Bristol involving Austin T. Eugley, 20, of Bowdoin. Mr. Eugley was operating his 1995 Acura Integra northbound when he lost control of his vehicle, crossed into the southbound lane, entered the woods and struck a tree. Deputy Kevin Dennison was the investigating officer.

On Nov. 16, an accident occurred on Route 1 in Edgecomb involving Keith M. Grant, 18, of Westport Island and Cheryl B. Ryan, 51, of Warren. Mr. Grant was operating his 2003 Ford Ranger northbound and Ms. Ryan was operating her 2015 BMW X3 southbound, when Grant began to slide and went into the southbound lane. Grant’s vehicle rotated and struck the driver’s side of Ryan’s vehicle. Deputy Jonathan Colby was the investigating officer.

On Nov. 16, an accident occurred on Waldoboro Road in Bremen involving Karter S. Billingslea, 20, of Waldoboro. Billingslea was operating a 2010 Jeep Patriot southbound when another vehicle in front slowed down and to avoid rear ending the vehicle, Billingslea swerved to the left and ended up in a ditch. Deputy Alonzo Connor was the investigating officer.

On Nov. 16, an accident occurred on East Pond Road in Nobleboro involving John A. Gilbert, 53, of Bremen. Mr. Gilbert was operating his 2011 Audi A6 westbound when he stated he accelerated instead of braking when approaching the stop sign. As a result, his vehicle went through the stop sign onto East Pond Road and ended up in a ditch. Deputy Alonzo Connor was the investigating officer.

On Nov. 16, an accident occurred on US Route 1 in Nobleboro involving Kendall L. Kenney, 69, of South Portland and Daniel R. Guaman, 25, of Framingham, Massachusetts. Mr. Kenney was operating is 2012 Ford F15E northbound when Mr. Guaman came across the center line in his 2015 Nissan Rogue and slid into Kenney’s vehicle.  Guaman was coming out of Back Meadow Road when attempting to make a right hand turn onto Route 1 when he slid into Kenney’s vehicle. Deputy Alonzo Connor was the investigating officer.

On Nov. 16, an accident occurred on Waldoboro Road in Jefferson involving Peter J. Tavernakis, 40, of Waldoboro. Mr. Tavernakis was operating his 2003 Toyota Tacoma southbound, operating too fast for the conditions, when he slid off the road southbound and struck a large rock head on. Sgt. Mark Bridgham was the investigating officer.

On Nov. 16, an accident occurred on Waldoboro Road in Bremen involving Gerard S. Waltz, 63, of Newcastle and Katherine Jordan, 55, of Bristol. Mr. Waltz was waiting to turn left, in his 2002 Freightliner, onto Route 32 from the parking lot of the Bremen Fire Department when he accidently “dumped his clutch” and when the truck lurched forward, the plow struck Ms. Jordan’s 2003 Honda Accord, which was traveling southbound on Route 32. Deputy Andrew Miner was the investigating officer.

On Nov. 17, an accident occurred on Waldoboro Road in Jefferson involving Erica J. Beaster, 31, of Augusta. Ms. Beaster was operating her 2001 Oldsmobile Alero southbound when she lost control of her vehicle on the icy roadway. As a result, her vehicle went off the roadway on the right and struck a large rock in the snow bank. Sgt. Mark Bridgham was the investigating officer.

On Nov. 178, an accident occurred on Barters Island Road in Boothbay involving Leontine L. Lapointe, 66, of Boothbay. Ms. Lapointe was operating her 2016 Honda eastbound when she went around a corner, at which time she lost control due to slush on the shoulder of the road. As a result, her vehicle went off the road to the left and into a field, causing damage to the front driver’s side corner. Reserve Deputy Dwight Fowles was the investigating officer.

On Nov. 17, an accident occurred on Mills Road in Whitefield involving Clay P. Worthley, 22, of Jefferson and Adam Z. Trussell, 27, of Alna. Mr. Worthley was operating his 2012 Chrysler 200 westbound on Route 126 in the area of the intersection of Mills Road and Mr. Trussell was operating his 2008 Ford F150 southbound on Mills Road and stopped at the stop sign. Trussell then began a left turn from Mills Road onto Route 126, when he failed to yield and struck Worthley’s vehicle. Deputy Caleb Poirier was the investigating officer.

On Nov. 18, an accident occurred on State Route 129 in South Bristol involving Steven H. Hawks, 52, of South Bristol. Mr. Hawks was operating his 2015 Toyota Rav4 northbound when he struck a deer in the roadway with the passenger corner side of his vehicle. Deputy Alonzo Connor was the investigating officer.

On Nov. 18, an accident occurred on N. Hunts Meadow Road in Whitefield involving Edwin W. Glidden, 60, of Augusta. Mr. Glidden was operating his 2010 Ford Fusion westbound when a deer crossed the roadway and struck the front passenger corner of his vehicle, which also caused a dent on the rear passenger side. Deputy Caleb Poirier was the investigating officer.

On Nov. 19, an accident occurred on Patterson Road in Dresden involving Elias N. S. Davis, 17, Dresden and Cory S. Parks, 29, of Pittston. Mr. Parks had stopped his 2014 Jeep Compass at the intersection of Route 197 and Patterson Road for a red light and was facing westbound stationary when Mr. Davis, who was operating his 2017 Hyundai Elantra  northbound on Patterson Road, attempted to make a right hand turn. Davis was moving too fast for the conditions and slid into Parks’ vehicle. Sgt. Mark Bridgham was the investigating officer.

On Nov. 19, an accident occurred on Route 1 in Newcastle involving Tanya M. Albert, 43, of Newcastle. Ms. Albert was operating her 2013 Honda Pilot northbound when a deer entered from the west side of the roadway and was struck. Sgt. Matthew Day was the investigating officer.

On Nov. 19, an accident occurred on US Route 1 in Newcastle involving Corey A. Walmer, 59, of Tenants Harbor and Christy E. Toman, 40, of Bristol. Ms. Walmer was operating her 2011 Toyota Prius northbound when she encountered a police car with its emergency lights activated in the northbound breakdown lane. Walmer went over the yellow line and into the other lane to give space to the police car and while doing this, she struck mirrors with Toman’s 2011 BMW 3 series, who was traveling southbound. Sgt. Matthew Day was the investigating officer.

On Nov. 19, an accident occurred on Hilton Road in Whitefield involving Justin R. Rollins, 18, of Jefferson. Mr. Rollins was operating his 1999 Dodge 1500 southbound when he encountered a sharp curve. At this location, the paved road becomes dirt and was covered with a coating of ice and snow. Rollins encountered the ice and lost control and as a result, his vehicle went off the road on the right side and came to rest against a tree. Deputy Caleb Poirier was the investigating officer.

On Nov. 19, an accident occurred on Ocean Point Road in Boothbay involving Heather N. Reynolds, 27, of Boothbay Harbor. Ms. Reynolds was operating her 1996 Lexus ES300 eastbound when her vehicle engine caught fire. Reynolds was able to exit the vehicle and was not injured. Vehicle was fully engulfed and extinguished by responding fire units. Deputy Caleb Poirier was the investigating officer.
