Let's Talk About It Book Club at Thomaston Public Library

THOMASTON — Facilitated by author and mentor Lee Heffner, the Let's Talk About It book group will meet, Tuesday, Feb. 12, at 11 a.m., at Thomaston Public Library to continue "The Civil War: Fiction" series with Absalom, Absalom! by William Faulkner.

    From the Modern Library edition:

"Absalom, Absalom! is William Faulkner's major work – his most important and ambitious contribution to American literature,” according to a news release. “In the dramatic texture of this story of the founding, flourishing and decay of the plantation of Sutpen's Hundred, and of the family that demonic Stephen Sutpen brought into the world a generation before the Civil War, there rises the lament of the South for its own vanished splendor."

Said Thomaston Library: “These discussions are always thought-provoking and lively, and we welcome anyone to join for one book or the whole series!”

    Light refreshments are served.

The next book in the series, to be discussed on March 12, will be Beloved by Toni Morrison. Copies will be available to borrow at the library.
