ROCKLAND — Local manager of Bangor Savings Bank, Corey Belcher and Foundation Representative, Danielle Ahern recently presented Knox County Homeless Coalition (KCHC) with a grant to continue renovation work on a 24’ x 24’ barn on campus for use as a training and education center.

In the past year space has gotten tighter at KCHC with a 20 percent uptick in client traffic and the addition of case managers to handle the growing need.

In response, KCHC, aided by volunteers supervised by building experts from Midcoast Habitat for Humanity began renovations on a small barn on the Rockport campus to create a space, away from the confidential spaces needed for critical emergency services, to provide group trainings and educational opportunities in an efficient manner.

“The benefit of being able to host more than one client at a time to work on learning a particular skill, along with our ability to welcome other local providers for professional group training will be invaluable while also allowing us to focus the majority of our attention on client needs rather than an overwhelming amount of logistics for something as simple as a budgeting or parenting class, or interview training” said Molly Feeney, Case Management Coordinator for KCHC. “We couldn’t be happier that the folks at Bangor Savings recognized the importance of this as much as we do.”
