Hospital oncology nurse earns doctorate

BELFAST — Katrina Tozier, DNP, CNP, AOCNP, ACHPN, recently completed her Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP) with a subspecialty in oncology from the University of South Alabama, according to Waldo County General Hospital, in a news release.

In June 2018, Tozier completed her Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse Practitioner Certification through the Oncology Nurse Certification Corporation and in January 2019 she completed her Hospice and Palliative Nurse Certification through the Hospice and Palliative Credentialing Center.  

The purpose of the continued education and credentialing is to promote excellence in patient care by validating specialized knowledge in areas of nursing, according to WCGH.

Elizabeth Connelly, DO, medical staff president of Waldo County General Hospital and medical director of WCGH Oncology and Hematology said in the release: “My congratulations to Dr. Tozier for this great achievement. We are fortunate to have her as a member of our team providing care to our patients dealing with cancer.”
