Hope woman arrested on criminal threatening charges

    On November 1, at approximately 12:30 p.m., the Knox Regional Communications Center received a 911 call reporting that a female in a red sweater and armed with a knife was attempting to attack another female and her child on Buttermilk Lane in South Thomaston. Knox County Sheriff's deputies, along with the Maine Warden Service, arrived within minutes of the call.

    As deputies approached the scene, they found a female allegedly wielding a knife attempting to gain access into a residence and another female, with a child, locked inside a truck approximately 100 feet away from the residence, according to a news release from the Knox County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies engaged the knife-wielding female at gunpoint and subdued her without incident.

    Leanne Cousins, 68, of Hope, was arrested for assault and criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon. Cousins was transported to Penbay Medical Center for a mental health evaluation. Counsins was able to post bail from Pen Bay Medical Center.
