AUGUSTA — Katheryn Langelier, CEO of Herbal Revolution Farm and Apothecary, LLC, in Union, has been selected to receive the U.S. Small Business Administration’s 2019 Home Based Business of the Year Award for Maine and New England.

“Over 99% of businesses in Maine are small, and many of those are operated from the owner’s home,” said Amy Bassett, SBA district director for Maine, in a news release. “There are many compelling reasons for businesses to start out as home-based and with increased access to programs and services available to assist entrepreneurs, these business owners have the same ability to grow their enterprises exponentially. We are very pleased to recognize Katheryn for her continued success.”

Langelier’s health and wellness company produces several lines including tonics, teas and extracts and grows the ingredients on her MOFGA certified organic farm in Union. Over the course of its 9 years of operation, Herbal Revolution has gradually scaled up to include a larger property, more buildings, and a stronger national presence.

Herbal Revolution was selected for this award because of its sustained and continuing growth, the owner’s commitment to its products, and for the community contributions of Langelier.

Herbal Revolution was nominated for this award by Nancy Strojny of Portland SCORE.

“I feel so honored to have received this recognition from the SBA, said Langelier, in the release. As an entrepreneur it's challenging trying to grow a national business by bootstrapping so it's nice to stop for a minute and receive this acknowledgment for the dedication to my work.”

Langelier will be honored at the 2019 SBA Small Business Awards Celebration on May 15, at the Hilton Garden Inn, 5 Park Street in Freeport.
