ROCKPORT — Camden Hills Regional High School drama students will travel to Caribou for the Class A Regional competition of the 2019 Maine Drama Festival.

The actors are among 1500 students from 78 high schools across Maine participating in nine Regional competitions, from Saco to Caribou, Friday and Saturday, March 8 and 9. During the Regionals, schools will present plays ranging from the classics to student written pieces, according to a CHRHS news release.

Schools compete in two classes: Class A (more than 500 students per student body) and Class B (less than 500 students).

A panel of three judges will decide which performances advance to the State Finals, also known as the 87th annual Maine Drama Festival, on March 22 and 23.

Finals for Class A will be held in the Strom Auditorium at Camden Hills Regional High School. The Finals for Class B will be held at Ellsworth High School.

The Outstanding Performance at each State Final will be invited to perform their show at the New England Drama Festival, held this year in Cranston, Rhode Island, on April 15, 16, and 17.

The performance schedule for each of the Regional Sites will be available on the Maine Drama Festival Facebook page located at: https://www.facebook.com/ medramafest/
