CAMDEN — Two boys were rescued by Good Samaritans aboard the sailing vessel Providence, Saturday afternoon, after being spotted in the water, with their skiff – equipped with an outboard – going in circles nearby.

The incident occurred near 250 Bay View Street in Camden, which is outer Bay View, near the Rockport town line.

The two are seventh grade boys at Camden Rockport Middle School.

“Both boys were wearing their PDFs,” said Camden Fire Chief Chris Farley. “They hit a wave and it knocked them into the water.”

The boys were taken to the Camden Public Landing where Camden firefighters Matt Heath and Earle Holt were on standby.

“The kids are fine,” said Farley.

The boys were uninjured, and one of their fathers came to pick them up.

Camden Utility Engine and North East Mobile Health responded to the call, though no transport was needed.
