Five Town Little League Baseball registration open

Registration for Five Town Little League Baseball is now open for baseball players ages 7-12 residing in Appleton, Camden, Hope, Lincolnvile and Rockport. 

Interested athletes can be registered for both the 2018 baseball regular season and preseason clinic series at ftll.sportsoffice.com

The preseason clinic series is strongly recommended for those ages 9-11 interested trying out for the majors division this season, according to a press release. The release notes players will be able to re-connect with their friends and get a better feel for what is expected of players in the majors division.  

Additionally, the season’s schedules can be viewed at ftll.sportsoffice.com by choosing the baseball tab under the “programs” section of the site. 

Those interested in registering should keep in mind that league age is based on each player’s age as of Aug. 31, 2018. Thus, if a player was born Aug. 30, 2009, that player will be categorized as nine-years-old. Those born on Sept. 2, 2009 would be categorized as eight-years-old. 

The release notes that all players who will be categorized as ages 9-11 this season who played in the upper minors division last season are strongly encouraged to tryout for the majors division. Additionally, there have been division name changes for the league’s two minors division, according to the release. Now, upper minors will be called “Triple A” while lower minors will be called “Double A.” 

In the Triple A division, games will be kid-pitch where outs and walks count, according to the release. In Double A, games will be coach-pitch where each player gets to hit once in each of the three innings played, the release stated. 

The release stated instructional clinics, skills drilling and fundamental teachings will be heavily emphasized during the start of the season to better prepare players for games.
