ROCKLAND — As part of the Check out Movement and Healthy Living at Your Library series, Rockland Public Library announces the availability of six new fitness kits for checkout by Rockland Library cardholders.

They include T'ai chi: beginner's workout, Zumba Gold: Live It Up, Jump Rope Mastery, Pilates Bodyband, Foam Roller, and Yoga for Beginners. Each kit, housed in a purple and white  tote bag, includes everything someone needs  to complete a workout. For example, the Yoga for beginners Kit come with a DVD with eight routines focusing on different physical and mental aspects of yoga, such as building strength, improving flexibility, reducing stress, and more, a purple yoga mat, purple yoga blocks, and a purple yoga strap.

Fitness Kits provide a way for users to try a new activity, without having to commit to buy new equipment. Kits may be checked out for two weeks at a time and renewed once.

Another component of the Check out Movement series is the Wednesday Walkers, which meets at the Library every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Walkers of all ages and abilities are invited to go on a 30 to 45 minute walk around town.

Walks are led by librarians and no walker is left behind.  In case of inclement weather, we will walk indoors in the library.

Fitness classes and health talks are also part of the series.

Check Out Movement and Healthy Living at Your Library is funded by the Maine Public Library Fund, Rose and Samuel Rudman Library Trust, City of Rockland, and Friends of Rockland Public Library.
