Victoria Doudera, of Camden, has filed papers with the Maine Commission on Governmental Ethics and Election Practices to seek the District 94 seat in the Maine House of Representatives in the November election.

Doudera will run as a Democrat and Clean Election Candidate.

“I see a need in our community for strong, positive leadership in Augusta,” she said, in a news release. “For more than 30 years, I've been active in our towns – as a businesswoman, community leader, mom and volunteer. I believe in clear communication, attentive listening, and collaborative problem solving. These are the qualities, along with my experience and energy, that I'll bring to the Legislature on behalf of our district.

“As a realtor, I see first hand the issues around rising property taxes and the need for affordable housing – not just for low-income residents but for our nurses, emergency workers, and young people just starting out – people like my oldest son, who's just moved back to Maine with his fiancee. I know this is a big concern for many of us. Our environment – including clean energy and clean harbors – is important to me, as is access to health care and our economy. My husband and I raised three kids here, all of whom went to local schools, and I want all of our children to be able to settle in Maine, make a good living, and raise their families here, too.”

Doudera is the author of several books, including Moving to Maine, the third edition of which was published in 2014. A real estate broker with Camden Real Estate Company, she currently holds the position of secretary on the Camden Conservation Commission, is a Board Member of Midcoast Habitat for Humanity, and serves on the Outreach Committee of the First Congregational Church of Camden. She lives with her husband, attorney Edward Doudera, in Camden, and can be reached at vicki@camdenre.com.
