ROCKPORT — A couple has been charged with allegedly stealing more than $10,000 from a Rockport motel where they were formerly employed.

James W. Pierce, 52, and Shannon E. Pierce, 46, both of Cushing, were arrested by Rockport police, following an investigation, and charged with Class B theft.

The two were indicted by the Knox County Grand Jury Nov. 14, but the indictments were sealed until they were arrested by police.

The couple appeared in Knox County Unified Court before Judge Susan Sparaco Dec. 3. Bail was set at $250 cash for James Pierce and Shannon Pierce was released on personal recognizance, according to the court document.

The indictments against the Pierces stated that the thefts occurred from October 2016 through October 2017. The exact amount of money allegedly stolen was not confirmed in the indictment, only that it was more than $10,000.

They are scheduled to appear in court again Jan. 19 for a dispositional conference.
