Early June brings three musical friends and talents together to the stage at the historic Opera House in Boothbay Harbor. On Sunday, June 2, Ellis Paul teams up with Abbie Gardner and Seth Glier for an evening of music and stories among friends.

A troubadour, a singer/songwriter, a folky, and a storyteller -- all are fair labels for Ellis Paul, but they do not quite suffice. Born a stone’s throw from the U.S./Canadian border in Aroostook County, Ellis’ Maine roots run deep. A meticulous and lyrical chronicler of the times we live in and the times we’ve lived through, Ellis’ work draws deeply from the traditions of American folk music as well as his own extensive travels and experiences, spanning almost three decades of life on the road, 19 albums, multiple awards and recognitions, and countless collaborations with other artists. He’s consistently played over 200 shows a year, at virtually every venue, festival, concert hall and coffeehouse in existence and along the way has cemented his rightful place in the story of American music. With an acoustic guitar in hand, he weaves intimate, provocative, and romantic tales of lives that were obviously witnessed by a most-talented voyeur.

At the relatively young age at which he finds himself, Seth Glier has already acquired an astonishing list of accolades and accomplishments -- garnering a Grammy nomination for his sophomore record, a pair of Independent Music Awards, headlining major music festivals -- all while upholding a relentless touring schedule with the likes of Ani DiFranco and Ryan Adams, as well as a disciplined and prolific songwriting practice. Seth's fifth and latest record, “Birds,” showcases the breadth and depth of his songwriter's vision, featuring terse political observations and deeply personal family storytelling. His Opera House debut several years ago was alongside Livingston Taylor.

Abbie Gardner is a fiery dobro player with an infectious smile. Whether performing solo or with Americana darlings Red Molly, her acclaimed tales of love and loss, both gritty and sweet, are propelled by her impeccable slide guitar chops. Her live show is truly unique - as both an award winning songwriter and interpreter of folk styles, a captivating vocalist, and a world class lap style dobro player, she has an unmistakable sound all her own. Her latest CD, “Wishes on a Neon Sign” was released in January 2018, and features 12 original songs, including a co-write with Chris Stapleton. She has opened for Lori McKenna, Hot Rize and Martina McBride.

A concert with any one of these talents would promise something special, but on this night the three  team up for a performance of both solo and group songs.
