ROCKLAND — Catherine E. Peterman, 45, went into the loving arms of her Heavenly Father, Friday, June 14, 2019, at the Sussman Hospice House in Rockport, surrounded by the love of her family.

She was born Catherine Elizabeth Holesworth to Charles H. and Catherine L. Holesworth of Philadelphia on May 2, 1974. Cathy was initially being raised Roman Catholic, but was born again when she heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ through the ministry of a Baptist preacher, a church planter named Tyler May, who had come to her Philadelphia neighborhood and started the Ontario Street Baptist Church. Cathy’s mother had also been saved through Ontario Street Baptist Church’s ministry.

Her mother took Cathy, and her brother Charlie, from Catholic School and enrolled them in the Baptist Church’s Christian Academy. Cathy would finish her schooling at Christ Independent Baptist Academy in 1992.

As a young woman in high school, and having many Christian women invest in her life, she committed her life to serve the Lord Jesus Christ. In that commitment she enrolled in Northeast Baptist College, majoring in
Elementary Education and Bible. While in college, Cathy served at her local church in the Jr. Church and bus ministries where she and her future husband would get better acquainted, date, and marry.

Catherine married David Peterman on June 28, 1997. Together with her husband, Cathy served the Lord Jesus the rest of her life. She was contented to follow the faith of her husband and God would use her mightily as a wife, a mother, a teacher, and a faithful example to her husband, children, and others that knew her.

Cathy was a wonderful mother to David Jr., Bethany, and Nathan. She also took into her home and helped raise for a time Mary Shelton (now DiBiasio) of Eddystone, Pennsylvania, and Miriam Shelton (now Cruz) of
Deptford, New Jersey, who are today serving the Lord with their families.

Cathy faithfully cared for her family and was a wonderful helpmeet to her husband, serving the Lord Jesus Christ.

God would eventually take the family from Philadelphia to Maine, and after being commissioned by the South Liberty Baptist Church, the family came to Rockland to start the Breakwater Baptist Church.

Cathy Peterman was a meek and quiet spirit (1 Peter 3:4). She was an invaluable part of the ministry of her husband of almost 22 years and a nurturing mother of her children that she labored to raise and homeschool (Prov. 31:28).

Cathy is survived by her grandmother, Margaret March; her mother, Catherine L. Holesworth; her brother, Charles Holesworth; her husband, David Peterman; her three children, David, Bethany, and Nathan; as well as
many nieces and nephews.

She leaves behind a multitude of loved ones and friends whose lives were enriched by her.

A Home-Going Celebration was held Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at South Liberty Baptist Church.
