Cast announced for Belfast Maskers’ performance of "Proof"

    BELFAST — Director Stephanie Natale recently unveiled the cast she has selected for Belfast Maskers' first production of 2024, the intriguing play "Proof" by David Auburn. This captivating drama of mathematics, madness, and mystery won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama as well as the Tony Award for best play when it debuted. 

    Leading the cast is local performer Angelina Nichols, who takes on the challenging role of Catherine, a complex, brilliant, and enigmatic character grappling with her father's legacy and her own identity, according to Maskers, in a news release.

    Bart Shattuck, a seasoned actor with a wealth of experience, steps into the role of Robert, Catherine's father.

    Katie Glessner, an actress very familiar to Midcoast Maine audiences, will play Claire, Catherine's pragmatic sister.

    Tucker Atwood, local actor, director, and playwright, will portray Hal, an ambitious young mathematician.

    Joining Natale on the design and production team are Stage Manager Latricia Saucier, Producers Julia Olson and Cassidy Small, Lighting Designer Zafra Whitcomb, and Sound Designer Jay Rosenberg.

    Performances will be at the Basil Burwell Community Theater, 17 Court Street in Belfast, from March 8 through the 17th.

    "Proof" will be presented on Fridays and Saturdays at 7 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. for two weekends, beginning March 8.

    General admission tickets are $18, with a $3 discount for students & seniors and a group discount of 15% when six or more tickets are purchased online. There will also be a $10 Preview Night performance on Thursday, March 7.
