CAMDEN/ROCKPORT — The School Administrative District 28 (Camden-Rockport) School Board was to convene Aug. 13 with the SAD 28 Building Committee for a special meeting to consider a $322,000 change order to site work underway for the new Camden-Rockport Middle School, on Knowlton Street in Camden. However, that meeting has been postponed to a yet-to-be determined date and time, according to the central office.

The meeting notice, as circulated Aug. 8 by SAD 28 Superintendent Maria Libby, said: “There has been an issue with the best way to prepare the earth for the foundation and it turns out that the consensus among architect, contractor, consultant, and school reps is that the most prudent path forward is one that will cost an additional $322,000. This is coming in as a change order and requires both building committee and board approval.”

The SAD 28 board had already planned to meet Aug. 13 for its annual retreat, taking place this year at the Flatbread Pizza conference room.

The discussion concerning the change order was to take place from 6:45 to 7:15 p.m.

The board has a retreat first, then this meeting, then another special meeting to discuss the MET building,” said Libby, in the meeting notice to committee members.
