CAMDEN — James “Jim” M. B. Wickenden, Sr., has joined the Harmon, Jones and Sanford, in Camden, as a partner. Wickenden has been practicing law for close to 30 years, and he brings to the firm a breadth of experience and skill as an attorney, according to a news release.

Wickenden grew up in Rockport, graduating from Camden-Rockport High School in 1983; Yale University in 1987; and Columbia Law School in 1990.

Following graduation, he worked as a corporate associate at Cravath, Swaine and Moore, in New York and London. He then moved to J.P. Morgan, where he worked in New York, Hong Kong, Singapore and London, latterly as head of legal and compliance for the Europe, Middle East, and Africa region, and as a member of the European Management Committee.

Wickenden returned to private practice in 1999 at London-based Herbert Smith, where he served as Global Head of U.S. Securities Law for 13 years and as Global Head of Capital Markets for seven years. He was then recruited to join international law firm Allen and Overy as head of U.S. Corporate Finance and a member of their London executive committee, based in London and Hong Kong.

After 25 years working abroad, he returned with his family to the U.S., became a member of the Maine bar and formed a solo practice at Wickenden Law, LLC.  During this time, he continued working in a privately-held real estate investment company, buying, selling, developing and managing properties in Switzerland, England, and the U.S.

Wickenden’s practice areas have been primarily mergers and acquisitions and corporate finance, advising major international corporations and investment banks. His current practice will focus initially on real estate transactions, Trusts and estates, and small business matters.

Wickenden is admitted to practice law in Maine, Massachusetts, New York, and Washington, D.C.

Outside of practicing law, he enjoys spending time with his family in Maine and the Caribbean and enjoys reading, writing, sailing and skiing.
