CAMDEN - The Camden Lions Club proudly announces that the Lions Club International has awarded Lion Nikki Bland with a Melvin Jones Fellowship Award.

Lion Nikki Bland joined the Camden Lions in 2009, sponsored by Lion Bob Oxton.  King Lion Peter Martin announced the award.

Lion Nikki Bland pioneered the formation of the Leo’s Club, which became official in 2012, and she is the Lions Club’s primary liaison with the Leos.  The Leo’s Club is composed of community youth between 12 to 18 years of age who are learning about planning and doing service work that benefits the community.

Bland followed in her father’s footsteps when she became a Lion:  “What drew me to the Lions was the tremendous amount of community service they do.” She said. “My Dad was also a Lion and always spoke fondly of the fellowship that Lions shared. I am very proud to be a Lion and I am truly honored that my club awarded me the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award.”
