Camden Hills ice hockey eliminated in regional semifinals

WATERVILLE — The fourth-seeded Camden Hills varsity ice hockey team hit the road Saturday, March 2 to challenge top-ranked Old Town/Orono in the Class B North regional semifinals at Colby College in Waterville. 

The Rockport-based Windjammers entered the early Saturday evening contest coming off a 5-4 overtime victory over fifth-seeded Hampden Academy, the first time the Windjammers were able to skate past the Broncos. 

After a hard-fought contest, the Old Town/Orono pulled away with a 4-1 victory to move on to the Class B North regional championship game and thus eliminating Camden Hills. 

Old Town/Orono netted one goal in the opening period, two in the second period and on in the final period. 

Camden Hills scored its lone goal in the third period when Dylan Hastings scored courtesy Bryce Tyler and Charlie Griebel assists. 

During the regular season, the Windjammers were defeated twice by Old Town/Orono, once on the road on by a score of 3-1 and once at home by a score of 5-2.

After the Saturday contest, Old Town/Orono improved its record to 13-5, while Camden Hills wrapped up its season, the first under new head coach John Magri, with a 12-8 record.
