BELFAST — A Belfast woman was issued a summons for arson following a small fire Dec. 23, in the kitchen of her apartment on Midcoast Drive.

Sarah Fink, 55, came to the attention of Belfast Police after a neighbor in the same apartment complex heard yelling and reported the disturbance.

Upon arrival, Officer Daniel Thompson discovered a fire in the kitchen area of Fink’s apartment, which she reportedly admitted to intentionally setting.

Thompson was able to extinguish the fire with a fire extinguisher, according to Detective Gerry Lincoln.

The damage sustained to the apartment was contained to the stove and surrounding areas.

Given that the apartments in the complex are connected, Lincoln said the fire could have been serious had it spread.

While Fink reportedly did not offer an explanation of why she lit the fire, she was transported to an area hospital for further evaluation.

She is scheduled to appear in court Feb. 23.
