While Harold makes plans to skip town as soon as the sales are final, prim librarian and piano teacher Marian sees through him. But as the story unfolds, Harold, who is not a bandleader or teacher, helps individual townspeople in his quirky way –Including the bickering local school board and Marian’s younger brother. The tide, and Marian’s heart, begin to turn his way as Harold risks being caught to win her.
