Barbara Calderwood Moody, obituary

UNION — Barbara Calderwood Moody, 86, passed away peacefully with her loved ones by her side on February 15, 2018 in Augusta, Maine. Barbara was born in Appleton, Maine on November 19th, 1931 to parents Nelson Calderwood and Florence Light Calderwood.

Barbara grew up in Union attended local schools graduating from Union High School class of 1949. She met the love of her life John C. Moody Jr. and they were married on June 14th, 1954. Barbara and John traveled to many states in the early years before settling in Union, ME. to make their home and raise their children.

John and Barbara opened their doors to many elderly clients while operating Moody's Boarding home in Union from 1974 until they retired in 1994. Many friendships were gained during those years while caring from many who chose to live in their boarding home.

Barbara was a member of the People's United Methodist Church of Union, ME since 1962 as well as many community organizations over the years.

Barbara was predeceased by her parents , husband John and 3 brothers – Donald Walter and his wife Peggy ,Kenneth and Brother-in-law Harold Moody.

Left to cherish her memories are her Son's Darrell Moody and his wife Wilda Lopez of Union, ME. Paul Moody and his Fiance Stephany Sherman of Winslow, ME, Sister - Grace Sawyer of Thomaston, ME, Sister- In- Laws, Faye Calderwood of Union, ME, and Laura Calderwood of California, along with granddaughters Melody Welch and her husband Cornell of Rockland, ME, Ginger Lyons and her husband Tim of Westbrook, ME, and Lillian Moody of Warren, ME.

She is also survived by her Great Grand Children Hendrix Hallowell of Lewiston, ME. Cullen and Kaylee Booker of Waldoboro, ME, Step Grand Children Mary Charumilind and her husband Sarun of Philidelphia, PA, Anna Polanco and husband Carlos of Colorado, and Devin Sherman U.S. Army. Along with many Nieces, Nephews and friends.

A time of Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 24th, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main Street, Waldoboro, Maine. Burial will in the Spring. Dates and times will be announced.

Barbara had requested that no flowers be given in her honor rather donations in her name be sent to People's United Methodist Church – Building fund for new kitchen at 31 Depot Street , Union, Maine 04862.
