BELFAST — A man accused of stealing a school bus driver’s personal truck has been sentenced to three weeks in jail as a result of the June 13 event.

Frank L. Johnson II, 54, of Stockton Springs, was charged with operating under the influence, theft by unauthorized use of property, and operating while license is suspended or revoked, though the last count was dismissed as part of a plea deal.

The theft was reported to police after a school bus driver returned to the school bus lot to discover his own vehicle missing.

A trooper with the Maine State Police was able to locate the missing vehicle in Frankfort, where he happened to be patrolling, and Johnson was arrested.

In addition to 21 days in jail for operating under the influence, Johnson’s license will be suspended for 150 days and he will be required to pay a $500 fine. He was also sentenced to 21 days in jail for theft by unauthorized use of property, to run concurrently with his other sentence.

Johnson was also charged with violating a condition of release the following day, for which he received a sentence of seven days in jail.
